2009 Carriage Vineyards Grenache RosÉ
(Paso Robles AVA)

When we decided to make a rosé wine, we wanted to craft a wine in the style of the great rosés from the south of France. Our rosé is made from 100% Grenache Noir grapes sourced from Carriage Vineyards, a sustainably farmed site in the Paso Robles AVA. Following a long, dry growing season, the grapes were de-stemmed and cold-soaked for several days prior to fermentation in stainless steel tanks. A small portion of juice was reserved for barrel fermentation to give the wine a bit more structure and complexity.

Tasting Notes:

Bright red color with a light purple hue suggests this is no ordinary rosé wine. Aromas of wild cherry and peaches combine with floral scents of violet and lavender in the glass. Entry on the palate is soft, yet the wine explodes with fresh fruit flavors such as watermelon and strawberry. The finish is surprisingly long and lingering with enough acidity to be quite refreshing.

Enjoy this rosé as they do on the French Riviera; slightly chilled along with any combination of grilled vegetables, chicken or fish. Dining outdoors is optional, although highly encouraged! Drink now through 2012.
